Road Trip! Ishpeming headed back to Ford Field

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Ishpeming Hematites are headed back to Ford Field after a wire-to-wire win over Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary, 22-18 at the Superior Dome Saturday.

Ishpeming running back Ozzie Hakkarinen suffered a shoulder injury just before halftime. It’s believed that Hakkarinen broke his collarbone on a run play late in the second quarter. Quarterback Ozzy Corp carried the load after that, accounting for 20 of the Hematites 22 points.

Corp finished the game with two rushing touchdowns, including one in the fourth quarter that helped the Hematites hold on for the win.

Ishpeming (12-0) is headed back to the Division 7 State Championship game for the third straight year, where they will face Detroit Loyola (13-0) for the third straight time.

Ishpeming and Detroit Loyola play Saturday at 10 a.m. in Detroit.
