Trials set in Drummond Island sexual assault case

SAULT STE. MARIE — Two Drummond Island residents are going to trial early next year in a sexual assault case involving an alleged victim confined to a wheelchair.

James Shaul, 35, will have his trial in Chippewa County Circuit Court on January 28th. He’s charged with kidnapping, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree vulnerable adult abuse, fourth-degree CSC of an incapacitated victim, failure to register as a sex offender, and being a sex offender in a school safety zone.

Shaul also has habitual offender, fourth offense status attached to his case.

Melissa Greiser, 30, has her trial scheduled for February 25th. She’s accused of two counts of first-degree vulnerable adult abuse.

Greiser was a home health care provider for the alleged victim, and Shaul was Greiser’s boyfriend.
