MARQUETTE — There will be a lot less truck traffic through portions of Marquette. A new truck traffic ordinance went into effect today.

Trucks are no longer allowed on Third Street, Fourth Street, Seventh Street and Lincoln Avenue. Portions of Lakeshore Boulevard are also off–limits to truckers.

Trucks will permitted on those streets if they are making deliveries and drop-offs or conducting business.

Police say there will be a grace period for divers before tickets are issued. Signs will be posted soon to avoid any confusion.

More information on the new truck route can be found on the city’s website.
