St. Ignace man who allegedly shot his father charged with first degree murder
ST. IGNACE — A St. Ignace man is charged with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of his father.
Richard McKenzie, Jr., 53, was also charged with a felony firearms charge at his arraignment Tuesday in Mackinac County District Court.
McKenzie was arrested Friday by Troopers from the St. Ignace Post of the Michigan State Police at a residence on Mackinac Trail in St. Ignace Township. Troopers had found the body of his father, 75-year-old Richard McKenzie, Sr., at that residence. Troopers say McKenzie, Sr.’s body had suffered gunshot wounds.
McKenzie is in jail on a $1 million bond with GPS tether. He will appear in court next month for a preliminary exam.
