Michigan Tech unveils husky statue

HOUGHTON — The much-anticipated husky statue made its debut today on the Michigan Tech campus.

Students, faculty and alumni gathered at the Huskies Plaza for the unveiling of the statue, which features 832 pavers around it. The project was made possible by a donation from the Alumni Association and many other alumni and friends, including the Lorenzetti family.

“We hope that all the current and future Huskies enjoy this statue as much as we have enjoyed bringing Husky to you. God bless you all. Enjoy taking the pictures,” Dan Lorenzetti said.

The bronze statue weighs 1600 pounds and stands on a 19-ton rock that is 1.8 billion years old.
