Steman named WCHA Rookie of the Week
EDINA, Minn. – Michigan Tech freshman forward Dylan Steman was named the WCHA Rookie of the Week on Monday (Oct. 6). The Huskies opened the 2014-15 season with a WCHA series sweep at Lake Superior State over the weekend with 5-3 and 5-1 wins.
Steman had a goal and an assist in the series. Both of Steman’s points came on Sunday (Oct. 5). The Hanover, Minn. native, tipped in a Cliff Watson shot in the second period for his first collegiate goal. He also added a secondary assist on Blake Hietala‘s third period tally. Steman finished +2 on the weekend with five shots on goal.
The Huskies play an intrasquad game at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena on Saturday (Oct. 11) at 6 p.m. Admission is a donation to local youth hockey, and fans are encouraged to bring along their skates to skate with the Huskies afterward. Tech has two weekends off of regular season play before heading to Ferris State Oct. 24-25.
