HOUGHTON — At least two people were taken to the hospital after a car accident in Houghton Friday afternoon.

The accident happened on M-26 near the Hardee’s around 2:30.

A blue car traveling westbound attempted to turn into the Hardee’s parking lot.  A second car, also traveling westbound, stopped to let the blue car pass through.  A Jeep traveling in the outside lane T-boned the blue car on the passenger side.

Five people were involved in the crash.  Early reports indicate two people were transported to Portage Health and three others went to the hospital as well.

The Houghton Police Department would like to remind drivers to not stop on major roadways to let people pass because accidents like this can happen.
