Soo armed robbery suspect opts out of trial
SAULT STE. MARIE — A Sault Ste. Marie man involved in an armed robbery opted out of going to trial.
Kevin Cook, 20, was scheduled to have a trial start Wednesday in Chippewa County Circuit Court. Instead, he pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and unarmed robbery.
Cook and four Sault Ste. Marie teenagers threatened to beat up a man with a gun, which later turned out to be a BB gun, and stole $200 from the man during a drug deal near Ashmun Bay in March.
Cook will be sentenced September 16.
