The Negaunee City Police Department has released the names of those involved in a Monday morning accident in Negaunee.

Police say the driver of Chevrolet Astro van, 58-year-old Thomas Lee of Ishpeming caused the accident.  He was cited for failure to yield the right of way.  Lee’s vehicle hit a Chevrolet Camaro driven by John Kantola, 48, of Champion and a Ford Explorer driven by Johanna Smith, 29, of Ishpeming.

Lee and his passenger were transported to Marquette General Hospital for treatment of their injuries, and Kantola and her passenger were taken to Bell Memorial Hospital for treatment.

At least two people have been taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle accident in Negaunee Monday morning.

The accident happened on US-41 at the intersection with Brown and Baldwin Avenues.

The Negaunee City Police Department said a van attempting to turn left from U.S. 41 onto Baldwin Avenue when it turned left into the path of a vehicle traveling east on U.S. 41.  The van did a 180 degree turn in the road and hit a third vehicle.

Police closed off Brown Ave. as they cleared the site and were redirecting U.S. 41 traffic around the crash.  The site was cleared at about 8:20 a.m.

Negaunee PD were assisted on scene by the Negaunee Fire Deptartment, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Bell EMS, MGH Ambulance, and Anttila’s Towing.
