Graffiti spray-painted on Marquette businesses

A number of local businesses in downtown Marquette had a rude awakening Wednesday morning when they pulled into work.

Dozens of graffiti tags reading “BUMB” could be seen lining the 600 block of W. Washington Street.  The Eagle Radio Group, Lutey’s Auto, and U.P. Painters were a few of the businesses hit hardest by the taggers.

As of now, their identities are still unknown.  Depending on the cost of the damage, those responsible could face charges ranging in severity from a fineable misdemeanor to a five-year felony.

Marquette Police are still collecting evidence in their investigation, but the markings do not appear to be gang-related.  Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the department at (906) 228-0400.
