Mid Peninsula dissolves football program

The Mid Peninsula football program closed its doors for good today. The Wolverines did not have enough players for an eight-man team for a second straight year.

Mid-Pen is looking into joining another school’s football team in 2015, as a Co–Op Program. Mid Peninsula athletic director Gary Brayak talked to ABC 10 Sports about the decision that the school made in dissolving the football program.

“People don’t realize just what it takes as far as all the contracts you have to break. Then, there’s those players that really wanted to play that are really disappointed and there’s some parents that are disappointed at the same time. Really we had no choice. Just there was a lack of numbers and it isn’t going to get any better.”
