Two injured in car accident involving RV on M-95
Two were injured in an automobile accident in Dickinson County Thursday afternoon.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post say they responded to the accident at the intersection of M-95 and M-69 west of Sagola Township shortly after 4:00 p.m.
74-year-old Conrad Kontio of Champion was traveling south on M-95 in his RV motorhome when he struck a passenger car attempting to exit the BP gas station. Police say the driver of the car, 34-year-old Andrew Vogt of Mount Prospect, Illinois, failed to yield to oncoming traffic on M-95.
Both he and 33-year-old Maylene Vogt, a passenger in the car, were transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A 2-year-old passenger in Vogt’s vehicle escaped injury by being properly restrained in a child safety seat. Kontio was not injured in the incident.
All of those involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, and police say alcohol was not a factor. Andrew Vogt was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post were assisted at the scene by S.T.A.R. Ambulance, Beacon Ambulance, and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department.
