A Menominee County woman had a not guilty plea entered on her behalf after standing mute in U.S. District Court in Marquette during her arraignment on drug charges.

Brittany Kerri Harris of Wilson is accused of distributing an opiate blocker within 1,000 feet of a secondary school. That incident is said to have happened in Menominee County last September. The opiate blocker is commonly called Suboxone; it can have euphoric properties when mixed with other drugs.

Harris is also charged with two counts of distributing Suboxone. One count involves an incident on October 13th of last year in Menominee County and the other count concerns an incident from December 19th in Delta County.

Harris stood mute on the charges on the advice of her court-appointed public defender. Judge Timothy Greeley entered a not guilty plea for her.

If convicted of all three counts, Harris would face a maximum of 40 years in federal prison and $1.5 million in fines.
