A Manistique man believed to be in connection with three car theft cases has been arrested.

Manistique Public Safety Officers say Jacob Wesley Gage, 26, allegedly stole a number of vehicles from two different locations in town. A car owned by James Chase was taken from the driveway of his home on North Houghton Avenue. Brett Tallman’s vehicle was also snatched from his driveway on Intake Park Road. Gage is believed to have attempted to steal two additional vehicles from the driveway of Larry Armock on Delta Avenue. According to the report, all of the incidents occurred in the early hours of April 20th. Officials say the vehicles that were stolen were used to destroy several of the tree beds at the State of Michigan’s Wyman Nursery located off of Intake Park Road.

Gage was arraigned on multiple felony charges Thursday morning in Schoolcraft County District Court, including two counts of Unlawful Driving Away an Automobile, one count of Attempted Unlawful Driving Away an Automobile, one count of Malicious Destruction of Personal Property over $20,000, and one count of Larceny from a Motor Vehicle. Schoolcraft County Prosecutor Tim Noble is charging Gage as a habitual offender, fourth offense.
