‘Pippin’ takes the stage at Lake Superior Theatre
The Lake Superior Theatre’s summer production, ‘Pippin’, tells the story of a young prince in search of true happiness and fulfillment. He wants to find something to do with his life that’s important.
Ethan Bott, who plays the title character, said it was easy for him to relate to the character.
“We share a lot of similarities, so that’s really cool because usually, when you play a character, you’ve got to kind of find a lot of things to connect with, but with ‘Pippin’, a lot of them are pretty obvious,” he said. “It was like ‘here he is and here I am’, so that was cool.”
There’s plenty of singing in dancing in the Medieval-set musical, with something for everyone to enjoy.
“This is that kind of show that you want to bring your family or you want to get the girls together and come see it,” Shelley Russell, who plays Bertha, said. “You want to bring your husband. It’s so much fun. It’s a musical for our time and it’s so exciting — terrific dancing, wonderful voices. I think it’s got some of the best talent; it really does showcase the best talent in Marquette.”
‘Pippin’ premieres tonight and runs through July 13th. A second run goes from July 16th through the 20th. The show is rated PG-13 and you can buy tickets at all NMU EZ Ticket outlets.
