Baseball: Indians shutout Blues in Marquette

MARQUETTE – Jake Peterson pitched seven innings of scoreless baseball for the Gladstone Indians tonight in a 3-0 win over the Marquette Blues. Peterson struck out eight batters while giving up just three hits to get the win.

It was a scoreless game until the fourth inning, when Indians shortstop Jake Pearson knocked in a run to give Gladstone a 1-0 lead. Pearson delivered another run in the sixth inning, driving a pitch to right field, scoring Christian Tackman. Gladstone added another run in the seventh on a throwing error to make it 3-0.

Blues pitcher Ryan Walther pitched six plus innings. He gave up just four hits and he struck out two batters. Walther was ejected in the top of the sixth inning by the home plate umpire.

Gladstone is back in action on Thursday at home against the Escanaba Cubs. First pitch is set for 8pm.
