Back-to-Back jacks carry Tigs past Texas

The Detroit Tigers defeated the Texas Rangers, 8-6 on Wednesday. It was the sixth consecutive win for Detroit.

The Tigers scored three runs in the top of the first inning. Detroit had a 5-0 lead in the third before the Rangers got on the scoreboard in the fourth.

In the fifth inning, Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez hit back-to-back home runs. It was the fourth time this season that Detroit hit two consecutive home runs.

Anibal Sanchez pitched 5 1/3 innings on the mound to get the win. Joe Nathan took care of business in the ninth for his 16th save of the season. Detroit can sweep the series with a win against the Rangers on Thursday.
