Michigan State Police hosting open house at Negaunee Post

The Michigan State Police and Marquette County Central Dispatch are hosting an open house at the Negaunee Post on US-41 from 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow.

They’re inviting the public to come out and see the operation. The event gives the State Police the opportunity to show the community the equipment and set up they’re working with.

“Since, you know, taxpayer funds come from and pay for our equipment, they get to actually see it; it will be displayed,” Trooper Stacy Rasanen from the Negaunee Post said. “They’ll be able to also operate different displays that we have that are actually functional, so it should be a fun-filled event for the family. We’ll also answer questions the public has as far as safety concerns, or just general questions that they might want to ask us. We’ll be available to answer those questions.”

Representatives from the Marquette County Search and Rescue and the American Red Cross will also be at the event. A departmental recruiter will even be present for anyone interested in becoming a Michigan State Police trooper.

Troopers will be offering tours of the post, and cake and coffee will be available.
