Trial scheduled for Houghton County high-speed chase suspect
A Houghton County man is headed to trial after taking police on a high-speed chase in April.
Travis Kuopus, 26, has a three-day trial scheduled to begin July 30 in Houghton County Circuit Court. He is facing three charges: one count each of aggravated stalking and fleeing and eluding police, and two counts of resisting or obstructing a police officer.
Police say Kuopus was involved in a domestic situation at the Houghton Wal-Mart, after which he allegedly hit a vehicle and then fled the scene. Police chased him through Houghton on M-26 to Dollar Bay.
He was on the run from police for two days and was eventually arrested at a home in Laurium.
