Marquette County Jail administrator pleads guilty to impaired driving

The man in charge of running the Marquette County Jail pled guilty today to an impaired driving charge in the Ishpeming Branch of Marquette County District Court.

In addition to serving six months of probation, Gregg Gustafson of the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is ordered to pay $1,150 in fines and must enter an alcohol education program as part of his plea agreement. Gustafson was originally charged with impaired driving, which carries a different set of fines and driver’s license restrictions than an intoxicated driving charge, during his arrest on May 16th.

The Ishpeming Police Department initially made contact with Gustafson around 9:50 that night after receiving a report from an off-duty officer about a possible drunk driver coming from Negaunee. Officers proceeded to follow the suspect’s vehicle to the Burger King drive-thru in Ishpeming and found Gustafson intoxicated by the wheel before arresting him.
