Manistique native to play in golf tournament

Former Manistique High School golf standout Mike Nagy is set to play in the Michigan Amateur Championship later this month. Nagy qualified for the event by firing a 71 at the Greywalls Course on Saturday at the Marquette Golf Club.

The U.P. native is a member of the men’s golf team at the University of Tennessee. Nagy just completed his sophomore season. He played in four tournaments this past season for the Volunteers. Nagy’s best finish was at the NCAA Regional in Eugene. He complied a three-day score of 218 (71-72-75) to finish in 19th place.

Nagy will play in the Michigan Amateur Championship on June 16-20 at the Belvedere Golf Club in downstate Charlevoix.
