Baraga woman found not guilty of stealing from business

The treasurer for the village of Baraga has been acquitted of stealing from a business where she once worked.

Cynthia Wadaga, 47, has been found not guilty of embezzlement of $20,000 or more but less than $50,000. She had been accused of stealing from First Choice Auto Body in L’Anse from 2009 to 2011. Wadaga worked as a bookkeeper for that business.

Her trial lasted for nearly two weeks in Baraga County Circuit Court. The jury deliberated for about two hours before returning with a not guilty verdict.
