The foundation will accept grants for programs that benefit the population of Marquette County and the Upper Peninsula, as well . Grant size varies based on request, however the average size is expected to range from $1,000-$10,000. Multi-year grants will be accepted.
The Western Marquette County Health Foundation was created upon the completion of the sale of Bell Hospital. Since its transition in 2013, the foundation has provided funding to area school districts (Ishpeming, Negaunee, NICE and Republic/Michigamme) for student health and wellness programs. The Foundation also partnered with the YMCA of Marquette County through their annual Head to Head Bike Race (previously known as the Bell Bike Race) to raise approximately $2,500 for YMCA Scholarships. In addition, the foundation has committed a 1:1 matching grant for the Upper Peninsula Diabetes Outreach Network Swim Teal Lake Benefit for Diabetes in July 2014. For every dollar raised by each swimmer, the foundation will match one dollar.
