Waterfall Week encourages residents to enjoy views & brews
Marquette County is home to more waterfalls than any other county in the state. For the next few days, they’ll be the focal point for adventure seekers in the area, as residents and tourists alike celebrate Waterfall Week.
If you go out to any of the 77 spectacular waterfalls and enjoy the beautiful scenery or an outdoor adventure, make sure you capture yourself doing so. When you order a featured “Waterfall Brew” from a participating brewery and you show your photo in front of a waterfall, you’ll receive a free limited-edition Waterfall Week printed pint glass. Blackrocks, the Vierling, Jasper Ridge and Ore Dock are some of the Marquette County breweries taking part in the event.
“I’ve been to all seven of them, Black River Falls was definitely my favorite. It was beautiful; there is a nice little foot bridge to get out to it. They are all very accessible,” Ore Dock Brewing Company assistant general manager Anj Holland said. “Forestville is very icy, so that one would take some extra caution. Morgan Creek and Upper Carp River Falls. there is a lot of snow, but they are still accessible. Just bring snowshoes.”
The Waterfall Week Geocaching Scavenger Hunt is open to all ages. Anyone can test their waterfall knowledge and win prizes doing so, including an overnight hotel stay.
“There is a box at all seven of the waterfalls and once you go to the box there is a questionnaire and you have to answer all seven of the questions and then submit your answer sheet back to one of the breweries and you can be entered into a drawing.”
Waterfall Week ends this Sunday. More information can be found by visiting www.travelmarquettemichigan.com/waterfallweek or by calling 906-228-7749.
