MI Senate unanimously approves land and water trails bills

The Michigan Senate has unanimously approved a package of bills to encourage use of the state’s multi-use land and water trails.

Senate Bills 873 through 877 would also allow for the designation of “Pure Michigan Trail Towns” that support multi-use trails and develop a process for the state to create and update a database of trail maps.

The bills would make sure that trail maps are up to date and would make them available for anyone to access online. Senator Tom Casperson of Escanaba sponsored one of the bills in the package.

All five bills now head to the Michigan House of Representatives.
