UPDATE: Late night shooting incident in Marquette sends two to the hospital

Police are continuing to investigate a weekend shooting incident near downtown Marquette, and more specifically what may have caused it to happen in the first place.

Marquette Police say it happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 200 block of West Bluff Street. Upon arrival, officers found two victims with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Those victims have been identified as a 21-year-old Ishpeming resident and a 33-year-old from Illinois. Both were taken by ambulance to Marquette General Hospital’s emergency room. Their status is unknown at this time.

Police say a report is in the process of being prepared and will eventually be presented to the Marquette County Prosecutors Office for possible charges. No individuals in connection with the case have been arrested at this point.

A late night shooting incident near downtown Marquette sent two people to the hospital.

Marquette Police say it happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 200 block of West Bluff Street. Upon arrival, officers found two victims with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken by ambulance to Marquette General Hospital’s emergency room. Their status is unknown at this time.

The suspect was located and taken into custody. No other information regarding his identity has been released.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Marquette Police Department.

Marquette Police were assisted on scene by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, the Michigan State Police, NMU Public Safety, the Chocolay Township Police Department, the Marquette Fire Department, and Marquette General EMA.
