Michigamme Township rollover accident sends one to the hospital

An Iowa woman is recovering from non-life threatening injuries this afternoon after rolling her car into a ditch Wednesday morning.

Trooper from the Negaunee Post of the Michigan State Police investigated the single vehicle crash around 5:30 a.m. on U.S. 41 near Brown Road in Michigamme Township. Police say a 33-year-old Winterset, Iowa woman was the lone occupant in the 2007 Honda Civic. After investigating the scene, it appears she may have lost control of the vehicle before rolling over into a nearby ditch.

The woman has since been transported to Marquette General Hospital by Bell EMS, where she received treatment for a broken arm and other non-life threatening injuries sustained in the crash.

Safety belt use is unknown at this time. Police say controlled substance use may have been a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The Michigamme-Spurr Township First Responders and Fire Department, and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
