Broadway tunes will soon be filling Kaufman Auditorium.

The Lake Superior Youth Theatre is offering two performances of Kids Sing Broadway.

Songs are familiar tunes from Broadway musicals, including duets and ensemble performances, complete with fun choreography.

“It’s really fun, you do lots of dancing and singing and act too,” Scotti, 13, said.  “You get to have fun and sing different songs–numerous different songs, as in a musical you only get to sing songs from that musical.”

“(There’s) so many talented kids and so many talented people and it’s just so much fun to do.   It’s so much fun to perform and I think it’ll be really fun to watch, too.”

“We put a lot of work into it, even though its not one of the plays that takes the most time,” Ameila Bishop, 9, said.  “It’s a lot of fun, and it’s also fun to see plays, and it lets you know that kids can do a lot of things, like acting and things too.”

“(Acting allows you) to get confidence from it to be someone else when you go on stage,” Deana, 11, said.  “And you’re always that character throughout your life.”

The performances are divided between the Junior Cast with kids from preschool age to sixth grade, and the Senior Cast with kids from seventh through twelfth grade.

Performances of Kids Sing Broadway are for one day only–Saturday, March 22 at 1 p.m. for the Junior Cast and 7 p.m. for the Senior Cast.  Ticket prices are $14 for adults and seniors and $8 for children and students in advance, and $3 extra at the door.  To purchase tickets, click here, or call (906) 227-1032.
