B-Ball players to participate in shooting contests
Two U.P. girls basketball players are gearing up to take part in two shooting contests tomorrow at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.
Negaunee freshman Aleda Johnson is one of twenty girls basketball players from across the state who will be participating in the free throw shooting contest. Johnson shot 78% from the charity stripe this season, thanks to a revamped routine that Brandon Sager, the head coach of the Miners varsity girls basketball team, helped her with last summer.
Marquette junior Hunter Viitala is in the free throw competition and the three point shooting contest. Viitala made 75% of her free throws this season and she shot 35% from beyond the arc. Hunter has been in the gym lately getting ready for both competitions, especially the 3–point shooting contest, thanks to a little help from her dad.
The competitions begin tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. and run throughout the day.
