Ironwood man pleads not guilty to firearms charges
An Ironwood man will return to court in April after pleading not guilty to firearms charges that came out of a police standoff.
Mitchell Burton, 24, has pleaded not guilty in Gogebic County Circuit Court to carrying a concealed weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Ironwood Public Safety says the incident took place on February 8th. Officers had originally been called to a residence on Suffolk Street for a larceny complaint. While they were there, police say they recognized Burton, who had a warrant out for his arrest. Burton allegedly refused to comply with the demands of police and was arrested after a brief standoff.
He’ll be back in court on April 8th for an all-purpose hearing. Burton is in the Gogebic County Jail on $7,500 bond.
