The NMU women’s basketball team won the GLIAC Tournament on Sunday over Malone, 53-49.

Northern defeated Northwood, Michigan Tech, and the Pioneers to capture their first GLIAC Tournament Title in 14 years. By winning the GLIAC tourney, the Wildcats automatically clinched a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Winning the GLIAC Tournament is a big accomplishment, but the Wildcats still hope to do a few more things on the court this season.

Looking ahead to the NCAA Tournament, NMU is the No. 4 in the Midwest Regional. The Wildcats take on the No. 5 seed, Quincy, on Friday at 9:30 p.m. eastern.

All games in the Midwest Regional will be held at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. The Panthers are the top seed in the Midwest Regional.

The Michigan Tech men fell in the GLIAC Tournament final, 69 to 63 to Findlay on Sunday, but the Huskies still made the NCAA Tournament, thanks to an at–large birth. Tech is the No. 6 six seed in the Midwest Regional. The Huskies will take on the No. 3 seed, Southern Indiana, on Saturday at 1p.m., at Drury University.
