Marquette nonprofit groups want to honor volunteers

Nonprofit agencies often have unpaid volunteers as their backbone, and those agencies want to recognize people who give their time to causes important to them.

The Volunteer Coordinators of Marquette County is a collection of nonprofit groups. The organization is looking for nominees for its 18th annual Outstanding Volunteer Awards.

“These very selfless people help the nonprofits meet their missions, whether it’s working with young people or the elderly or the hungry, and it couldn’t get done without the help of volunteers,” Volunteer Coordinators of Marquette County member Linda Remsburg said.

The awards will be given out at the Westwood Mall on April 5th, but nominations are due on Monday.

Nomination forms are available online at UPvolunteer.org and at the Great Lakes Center for Youth Development website. Paper copies can also be picked up at the NMU Volunteer Center or at the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes office in the Westwood Mall.

The completed forms need to be either e-mailed to Jill Rady at jrady@gsnwgl.org or dropped off at the Girl Scouts office.
