WAKEFIELD, Mass. — Michigan Tech’s Reid Sturos has been named the Hockey Commissioner’s Association National Rookie of the Month after posting 12 total points during February while helping the Huskies to a 5-2-0 record.

Sturos led all freshmen in the nation with 12 points, posting five goals and seven assists in just seven games for a 1.71 points per game average.

The native of Brighton, Mich., scored in six of the seven contests with three multi-point games. Five of the seven assists he tallied in the month were primary helpers. He also posted a +5 plus/minus rating for the month.

Sturos’ four-point outburst in a 7-4 win vs. rival Northern Michigan Feb. 21 included a hat trick—the first of his career. The right wing finished the weekend sweep of NMU with another goal, giving him 4-1=5 on the series en route to WCHA Rookie of the Week accolades.

Sturos, who has 7-13=20 in 26 games on the season, has been named WCHA Player of the Week three times this season (Jan. 7, Jan. 28 and Feb. 25).
