Sex offender arrested for failing to notify authorities of address change

A Stephenson man is in Menominee County Jail for failing to notify law enforcement personnel of his address change.

Troopers from the Gladstone Post of the Michigan State Police assisted officials from the Department of Human Services on a child welfare check Monday when they discovered a 29-year-old registered sex offender had moved and failed to notify the proper authorities. Registered sex offenders are required to notify law enforcement of a change in address within three business days. Failure to do so, is a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

The offender’s name is being withheld until he has been arraigned in Menominee County District Court.
