Greenland Township accident leaves one man on life support

An Ontonagon man remains on life support today following a single vehicle accident in Greenland Township Saturday.

Troopers from the Wakefield Post and Baraga Detachment of the Michigan State Police were dispatched to the intersection of M-38 and M-26  around 9 p.m. where a vehicle had reportedly collided with a snow bank. Police say Daniel Laurich, 42, failed to stop at the intersection before crashing into the berm.

Laurich was transported to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital by Sonco ambulance for treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, Laurich was then taken to Gogebic County Airport where he was flown by life flight to Aspirus Wasuau Hopsital in Wisconsin. He is still lodged at the facility on life support.

Michigan State Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
