Woman arrested for OWI after car fire
The Michigan State Police Negaunee Post responded to a car fire on County Road 550 at 4 a.m. Sunday.
The incident occurred near County Road KCH in Powell Township when a 45-year-old Big Bay resident lost control of her vehicle and slid into the snow bank on the right shoulder. Police say the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames when they arrived.
The driver attempted to free her car, at which point it caught fire. She managed to get out of the car along with her two dogs. Her vehicle was destroyed by the fire. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
Police were assisted on scene by the Powell Township EMS and Fire Departments.
