UPDATE: Snowmobilers found

UPDATE: January 27, 7:00 p.m.

Two snowmobilers that were missing in the Porcupine Mountains have been rescued.

Benjamin Jenney Sr. and Benjamin Jenney Jr., from Albertville, MN, became lost near Silver City in Ontonagon County on Sunday afternoon. The father and son had no survival gear with them. They were able to send a text saying they were stuck in the woods at around 5:30 p.m.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post and volunteer snowmobilers began searching for the father and son Sunday night, until blizzard like conditions forced them to call off the search Monday at 1 a.m.

An incident command center was setup by the MSP Monday morning at the AmericInn hotel in Silver City. After six hours of searching, both snowmobilers were found in good health. They were taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital by ambulance to treat hypothermic and dehydration symptoms.

The Michigan State Police Troopers were assisted by eleven different law enforcement agencies and organizations and many volunteers who assisted in the search and rescue efforts.

Two snowmobilers missing in the Porcupine Mountains since Sunday night have been rescued.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police say the two Minnesota residents were found in good health around 2 p.m. after searching for the pair for more than eight hours.

Police say the snowmobilers had been out of contact since 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Search parties from the Michigan State Police, the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department, the DNR, and the U.S. Forest Service assisted in the search.

Two snowmobilers have been confirmed missing in the Porcupine Mountains by the Wakefield Post of the Michigan State Police. Police say the Minnesota residents have not been seen or heard from since 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police have set up an incident command center in Silver City. Search parties from the Michigan State Police, the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department, the DNR, and the U.S. Forest Service have been dispatched to the area and are still looking.

No additional information has been released at this time.
