NMU hockey team to face Alaska

After a series sweep at Bemidji State, the Northern Michigan University hockey team returns to the Berry Events Center this weekend for two games against Alaska.

NMU split their series with the Nanooks in Fairbanks back in November. The Wildcats offense scored seven goals against Bemidji State, while only allowing just two.

“We had Erik Higby back from a busted thumb and we added two forwards at Christmas in Gerard Hanson and John Siemer,” said Wildcats head coach Walt Kyle about why his team was successful against the Beavers. “We were able to make some chemistry, create a little bit more offense on some lines, and I think that was the single biggest difference.”

“Everyone is in a good mood and everyone is healthy,” said Wildcats forward Reed Seckel about the current vibe in the NMU locker room. “We are going to build (off of that) and have a great second half.”

Puck drop at the Berry Events Center is set for 7:07 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats are 4-2-1 at home this season.
