Marquette General gift shop needs volunteers
The hospitality gift shop located inside Marquette General Hospital is looking for volunteers.
Because the store is a nonprofit working in concert with the Beacon House to help raise funds for those in need of medical care who otherwise couldn’t afford it, volunteers play a major role in its operation.
“The patients appreciate it,” Hospitality Gifts owner Jennifer Dodge said. “Their family members appreciate it. They come to visit and they can get something here on-site, and they know, too, that with their purchase, the proceeds from that sale will go back to folks that benefit from the Beacon House and the hospitality rooms.”
The hospitality rooms allow close family members to stay at the hospital and remain near relatives who are in critical condition.
If you’re interested in volunteering, they’re looking to fill two shifts. One is on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other is on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. General duties include ringing up customers at the register and offering directions to locations within the hospital.
