Lions hire new head coach

The Detroit Lions have hired Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell to be the team’s new head coach.

Caldwell spent three seasons as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts (2009-11).  He compiled a 26-22 record in Indianapolis. The Colts fired Caldwell after a 2-14 season in 2011.

Caldwell was hired by the Baltimore Ravens to be the team’s quarterback coach in 2012. He was the Ravens offensive coordinator the past two seasons.

The Lions will formally introduce Caldwell on Wednesday.
