Traffic stop leads to drug bust
A Chippewa County woman is in jail on drug charges after a traffic stop.
The Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement team says she’s 45 years old. Her name will not be available until after she’s arraigned.
She was driving a vehicle on I–75 north near St. Ignace Friday night when she was pulled over. A search of the vehicle and occupants turned up heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Drug team officials say the woman was driving heroin to Sault Ste. Marie to be sold.
She was arrested on one count of heroin possession with intent to deliver, one count of crack cocaine possession and unspecified charges out of Sault Ste. Marie. The woman is being held in the Mackinac County Jail. SANE says more arrests are expected.
