Color run returning to Ishpeming

The Greater Ishpeming Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with local businesses and non–profit organizations to add a little bit of color to the winter.

The second annual Arctic Blast Color Dash is a unique color run through the Ishpeming Hills trails. It starts with a 1K kids’ run at 10 a.m. on January 18. It is followed by the adult 5K race at 11. The run begins and ends at the Country Village RV Park in Ishpeming.

“Last year when we did it, it was the region’s first color run, and of course we had to do it U.P. style and put some snowshoes on our feet and walk around through the white snow, and get blasted with all kinds of colors for every kilometer you ran or walked,” GINCC Executive Director Kori Tossava said.

Registration is set at $35 until January 17. Organizers encourage participants to pre–register, as they can save some money and ensure that they reserve an event t–shirt.

“We want you to wear it on the day of as you’re getting sprayed with the 5 different colors,” Tossava said. “You can take it home, you can spray it with vinegar, and then it’s your very own color run shirt.”

The event is designed to help people get out and be active in the winter. For more information, check out the Chamber’s website at gincc.org.
