Guilty plea in copper tubing theft case
A Wisconsin man has pleaded guilty after being accused of stealing copper tubing from a U.P. hunting camp. Ronald Woodworth, 53, of Green Bay entered the guilty plea at a pretrial conference in the Iron County Trial Court today.
He admitted to two counts of malicious destruction of personal property worth $200 to $1,000. The two counts each came from separate cases.
The Sheriff’s Department says the theft happened in October at a hunting camp near Porter Lake in Hematite Township. The owner told police that more than 80 feet of copper tubing had been stolen from his camp while he was away on an errand.
Police found Woodworth at his own camp nearby and arrested him there without incident. Woodworth will be sentenced on January 13th.
