Briones to play football at CMU

Ishpeming senior quarterback and middle linebacker Alex Briones has verbally committed to play football at Central Michigan University next year. Briones confirmed his intentions to play football for the Chippewas via Twitter on Thursday night.

Briones was a big part of the Hematites back-to-back state championships in Division 7. He was named the Large Schools Offensive Player of the Year by the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

Briones finished the 2013 regular season with some impressive numbers. The senior signal caller completed 43 of his 65 passes for 1,050 yards and 13 touchdowns. Briones also carried the ball 111 times for 814 yards and 13 touchdowns.

According to Chippewa Country, Briones is the 16th recruit to verbally commit to play for head coach Dan Enos at CMU.
