Cliffs Supports the United Way
Ishpeming, MI—December 16, 2013 —Cliffs Natural Resources, (NYSE: CLF) (Paris: CLF) announced today that Cliffs’ employees in Michigan have pledged $49,075 to the 2013-2014 Marquette County United Way campaign. Combined with a Company match of 50 percent of the amount pledged, the total amount contributed and pledged to the United Way is $73,612.50.
“The United Way assists many non-profit organizations in our community and our employees and the Company have always been generous and supportive of their efforts,” said Jennifer Huetter, district manager, public affairs for Cliffs in Michigan. “We’re pleased to support the United Way and to help make a difference in the communities that surround our operations.”
The goal this year for the United Way annual campaign is $425,000. Cliffs’ donation and pledges of $73,612.50 account for more than 17 percent of that total.
“As we celebrate 70 years of service in Marquette County, there are no words to fully express how fortunate and grateful we are to have the support of Cliffs Natural Resources and their Michigan employees,” said Barbara Meyer, Director of Operations for United Way of Marquette County. “It is because of their continued generosity we are able to help improve the lives of our friends and neighbors in need through United Way funded programs.”
Donations to the United Way of Marquette County stay local and help to fund various local non-profit organizations’ programs throughout the year. N
