Wildcats fall to North Dakota

NMU WILDCATSThe Northern Michigan University hockey team lost 4-1 to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D., on Friday, Dec. 13.

UND scored two power play goals in the second period to take a 3-0 lead. In the third period, Wildcats forward Darren Nowick scored a goal to make it 3-1 North Dakota.

The Wildcats appeared to pull within a single goal in the third, when Mitch Jones found the back of the net from the blue line. After a lengthy review, the goal was disallowed due to goaltender interference.

Wildcats goaltender Mathias Dahlstrom stopped 26 UND shots. The loss drops NMU to 6-9-2 on the season.

The Wildcats and UND will play one more game on Saturday, Dec. 14. Puck drop is set for 8:07 p.m.
