Huskies hockey to face BGSU
It will be a matchup of two teams from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association when Bowling Green plays at Michigan Tech this weekend in Houghton.
Tech’s scoring defense ranks tenth nationally. The Huskies are allowing just 2.28 goals per game.
Bowling Green is coming off of a series split against Alabama Huntsville. The Chargers beat the Falcons 4–3 on Saturday, for their first win of the season.
Bowling Green may not be the happiest team in the world when they take the ice against the Huskies Friday night.
“They’re going to be stinging,” said Huskies head coach Mel Pearson about the Falcons. “They are going to be coming in here with something to prove. I picked them to finish in the top level in our league this year because of their talent and how they play.”
“There’s a lot at stake this weekend,” Pearson added. “This is our last weekend before the (Christmas) break. We’re going to put our best foot forward and put everything in to it this weekend.”
“We expect them to come in and work hard, so it will be another great test for us,” said Huskies forward Dennis Rix. “It’s going to be gritty, tight games like you’ve seen all year so far. We have to learn how to play in those tight games and we’re doing well so far.”
“If you look at the (WCHA) standings, there is a log jam there from two through eight,” said Huskies defenseman Brad Stebner. “Every team is a contender. The games have been so close. We need these wins at home.”
Game time on Friday and Saturday is set for 7:07 p.m. Bowling Green has struggled on the road this season. The Falcons have a 1–6–2 road record.
