Icy road conditions seem to be the cause of a one car accident on U.S. 41 in Negaunee Township.

It happened around 10:15 a.m. when a driver heading eastbound on U.S. 41 lost control of his car coming around a blind turn, and fishtailed into a turning lane. The pickup truck proceeded to slide up onto the snow-covered median before flipping over. Despite a caved in roof and windshield, the lone occupant suffered only minor injuries.

Bell Hospital EMS personnel transported the injured driver to their facility for further treatment. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

One lane of westbound traffic on U.S. 41 was closed down for about an hour during the cleanup. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the crash. The Negaunee Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
