Utility assistance for low income families

Low income families are now able to get help paying their utility bills.

True North has launched a new heat and energy program that offers assistance to families in need.

“Our heat and energy program is designed for low–income families that are struggling to meet their household utility needs throughout the winter months in Michigan,” Andrew Wishka from True North said.

Qualifying families can receive payment assistance for utility bills as well as supportive services that can help families better understand utility usage, and how to save money on their bills.

“To qualify, families need to have a past due or shut off notice, or be low on a deliverable fuel.  They also must meet our income guideline which is at 150% of the federal poverty level, which varies based on the number of household members,” Wishka said.
