Tips on budgeting for the holiday spending

With 13 days until Christmas, the spending frenzy is in full swing…and so, too, for many people is the holiday stress of that spending.

A survey from The National Endowment for Financial Education finds six out of 10 Americans don’t set a budget for their holiday spending. So how can you establish a budget and keep it in check so you’re not dreading those January credit card bills?

ABC 10’s Cynthia Thompson recently spoke with Paul Golden, of the National Endowment for Financial Education, to get some tips on getting through the holiday shopping season while staying financially on track for next year.

Golden is spokesperson for the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), a nonprofit foundation dedicated to helping people acquire the information and gain the skills necessary to take control of their personal finances. Golden has been interviewed as a financial resource with outlets throughout the country. Prior to joining NEFE in 2005, he worked as a managing editor in the online news industry and has spent several years working in financial services.
